Dr. Yadav was born on February 4, 1984 in Sapahi VDC -9 Dhanusha district. He studied medical science in the Calcutta Medical College and the School of Tropical Medicine of the University of Calcutta in India. Dr. Yadav was elected a member of the constituent assembly from the constituency – 5, Dhanusha in the election to the Constituent Assembly 2064.
He was elected as the first President of the Republic of Nepal on July 21, 2008 (Shrawan 6, 2065 B.S ) . He previously solved the Minister of Health (1991 – 1994) and as the General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Party.
Dr. Yadav was arrested during the Jana Andolan in 1990 and jailed for three months but was released with the establishment of multi-party democracy.
Dr. Yadav was consider to be dignified intellectual personality and a symbol of national unity
